Today was an okay day. I had some productive work calls, ruined a painting and ended up walking on my daily run. Towards the end of my run, I was yelled at by a man walking on the other side of the street for not wearing a face mask. This was neither well informed advice, nor the social interaction I’d been longing for.
At 8pm this evening, all the residents on my streets and all-around England took a step outside their front doors to clap for the NHS. I had seen posts about this floating around the internet for a while, but I honestly did not expect the massive turn out that there was. It was touching and uplifting, a sign of solidarity, community and thanks- a moment I hope we all remember the next time someone mentions selling the NHS…
Following this, I returned to a group call on the app ‘Houseparty’ which seems to be the 2020 version of Skype. I haven’t spoken to so many people in almost two weeks and the excitement of seeing so many familiar faces made me giddy and slightly emotional. I miss the buzz of actually being at a house party and laughing for hours with my friends. I honestly can’t wait for this pandemic to end.
Despite saying I would stop writing when I had little to say, the loss of continuity would upset me so for now, I will keep throwing my thoughts into the void. One day this might be a historic artefact, an ancient blog kept during the pandemic of 2020.
Look after yourself, add me on Houseparty (coronanaelena) and keep washing your hands!
Lots of love,
